out of respect

the snowman's heart

kept in deep freeze

seeking shade

snow clings to my doorstep--

barely spring

 

loose ice clogs the river,

snow drifts crowds the bridge --

migrating birds--

the lines for Schengen

come and gone

this time, every year,

a little village springs forth--

sheet-ice on the St. Croix
